T350c 4.0S Red Rose “Le Mans Classic”

Apologies in advance! This is a slightly “War and Peace” advert.
But T400S is an iconic TVR, and this is the last TVR advert that the author will write after 21 years selling these amazing cars!

EVERY TVR has a history and many, like T400S, have brought great satisfaction to a number of owners. T400S’s owners all loved this car as you will discover! Maybe you will be the next to fall under this car’s spell?

Here is your Solution! One of the VERY rare TVR T350c’s
With a factory-built 4.0 litre RED ROSE engine!

Back in 2004, the TVR Sagaris was an imminent arrival, but not everyone was persuaded by the overt styling.

This stunning T350c was ordered from TVR Dealer TMS in July that year. The full specification was - to all intents and purposes - a Sagaris without the "Wolf’s clothing".

The car was ordered from TVR Blackpool with the Speed Six 4.0 litre Red Rose “S” engine, “S” brakes, and a large bore exhaust. There were additional “on costs” for Metallic paint, anti-chip paint and painted seat backs - plus a host of smooth and perforated hide surfaces in the cockpit.

The result was a car that, when registered on 21 Sep 04, and paid for on 9 Oct 04 (!) cost the first owner £45,484 - and that was without air conditioning. In other words, this car cost nearly as much as a Sagaris when new! (Wait and see re the air con). And note that Factory-built 4.0 litre “S”- engined T350’s are absolute Supercars - and rarer than hen’s teeth.

So what was the fine detail of the remaining specification? The exterior was finished - as the title suggests - in BMW’s Le Mans blue. Back in 2004, this was a classic high fashion colour used on high performance sportscars - such as BMW’s 6 Series, Corvette’s C6 ZR1, and Ferrari’s 550 Maranello.

And the interior of T4OOS was also beautifully styled, as you can see from the photographs, in complimentary Prussian blue and Portland grey with navy carpets bound in Portland. The roof headlining was in grey Alcantara. (And, as it happens, the styling is just the same as the interior of a Sagaris!).

And now we get to a slightly controversial parameter. Registered in 2004, by 2017 T400S had been driven only just over 8,000 miles in 13 years - so an average of under 650 miles per year. The first owner had the car serviced by TMS. But, the second owner serviced the car very conscientiously himself - and checked it very properly while it was SORN’d from May 2012 to Apr 2015.

Normally, we would not have bought a car without a continuous TVR Dealer or Specialist agent service record. But occasionally, we have been persuaded by the standard of servicing carried out under an owner’s own auspices. This was such a case - and the owner’s meticulous listing of all the work he carried out is available in the car’s provenance file.

The third owner bought the car in April 2017 and had it serviced by Hexham Horseless Carriages (HHC). But he felt he just wasn’t using it enough, so he offered it to Str8six in July 2017.

The car did not have air conditioning but we bought it nevertheless. It was utterly immaculate everywhere and we could overcome that deficit. We duly installed a Full Factory-spec, brand new air conditioning system in the car.

We sold T400S to its fourth owner on 9 Mar 18 and he put just 240 miles on this T350c - in the dry only - during the summer of 2018. And then he discovered we had completely restored the Tuscan Mk1 Red Rose he had part exchanged for T400S! His Tuscan had been his wedding car and he could not resist switching the two TVRs again! A reasonable reason to sell? We thought so and we put T400S back on the market in Nov 2018.

The following Spring, still with only 9,404 miles on the clock, the car was sold to its incredibly meticulous fifth owner in Gillingham. He put just over 2,000 miles on the car before he broke the rule and part exchanged T400S for a Sagaris. (But this one was in Lamborghini Arancio Pearl Orange and he bought it from Str8six - so that was OK).

Furthermore, his standard of maintenance and preparation of T400S was better than I have ever seen when collecting a TVR from an owner. We put this immaculate T350 on our transporter and when it arrived at our premises in Lewknor, Oxfordshire, it was unloaded, driven straight to our standard advert venue and photographed - without even being leathered off. (Amazing! Thank you Paul).

The stunning T350 was duly purchased again, with only 12,919 miles on the clock, and collected on 1 April 2021. The sixth owner enjoyed T400S for 2 years and just under 5,500 miles before he sold it back to Str8six. And his justification for that? “We only sold our TVR because I found a bit of a unicorn and a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a genuine dream car”. If you want to know what that was, you’ll need to call us about T400S!!

The advert which caught the attention of the most recent owner at the beginning of 2023, read as follows:

“And now, T400S has been PDI’d, fully Str8six 12,000 mile serviced and - for the avoidance of all doubt - is as close to perfect as is possible!! The bottom line is that this car is exceptional in the true meaning of that word - inside, outside and underneath. It has to be seen to be believed - unless you take the photos as gospel?”

The most recent owner bought the car on 31 March 2023 with 18,406 miles on the clock. As part of its preparation for sale, Str8six had equipped it with “Core" “progressive” dampers and springs, which are arguably the best solution available for a T350. He managed to drive the car for just 6 months before he was faced with an awful quandary. He had to expand his company into the United States and is having to emigrate there himself. He discovered he could not import the car into the USA until it is 25 years old - so not until 2029. The consequence? His pride and joy is now waiting at Str8six to meet its next owner! You perhaps?

We have absolutely no reservation about supplying this TVR with Str8six’s renowned “All the 12s" handover specification - i.e. Full 12,000 miles service completed before delivery, 12 months MOT and 12 months/12,000 miles FULL WEAR and TEAR WARRANTY covering PARTS and LABOUR on the whole car. T400S will be supplied with an inbuilt 12 volt trickle charger and a 12 volt auxiliary jumpstart cable. The car will also benefit from a 6 months TAX.
